Sanford business owners lose thousands of dollars in warehouse fire :: WRAL.com

Oct 16, 2024

A Sanford man told WRAL News Tuesday someone broke into his warehouse and set the building on fire.

According to Keaton Forbes and Grant Daley, owners of “Boozejuice,” an alcoholic beverage company that sells alcoholic cocktails in pouches, the company had over $100,000 of products in the warehouse.

“It was completely devastating,” Daley said. “You always keep in mind what can go wrong with our company, but I think the fire occurring within our warehouse was one of the last things we would’ve expected to happen.”

The two told WRAL News they started the company with two other people while in a college entrepreneurship class at East Carolina University.

“People are always going to be drinking on college campuses, and we wanted to make it as safe as possible for females,” Forbes said. “We know that drink spiking is a big thing on college campuses. So, we designed a tamper-proof pouch with a very small hole to drink out of.”

The pair said they moved into the Sanford warehouse three weeks before the fire, so they hadn’t installed security cameras, and most of the products inside were not insured.

The company was in the process of expanding to two more locations in South Carolina and Georgia.

WRAL News reached out to the Sanford Police Department regarding any investigation involving the fire and has not heard back.

“So far, they’re still doing their side of things,” Daily said. “We haven’t been able to uncover too much yet. But, we have faith in them, and that they’re going to be able to give us the answers we’re looking for.”

The pair set up a GoFundMe to help cover the costs of the damaged products.
